The Spanish Ambassador to Ireland His Excellency Jose Maria Rodriguez-Coso has vowed to visit Grange in the near future.
Members of Grange and Armada Development Association (GADA) were special guests of the Ambassador at reception to celebrate Spanish National Day at the Spanish Embassy in Dublin recently.
Chairman Eddie O’Gorman and committee members Declan Bruen and Peter Farrell met with the newly appointed Spanish Ambassador to Ireland along with Deputy Head of Mission Rafael Soriano Ortiz and other embassy staff.
GADA made a presentation to the Ambassador of a limited edition framed print by Annie West of the Streedagh to Stáid De Cuellar walking Trail.
“The Ambassador was fulsome in his praise of the “Remembering The Armada” Event held on Streedagh Beach on September 19 as part of the Celtic Fringe Festival 2015.
“He had received a full briefing from Mr Soriano who represented the Spanish Embassy at the event,” said Mr O’Gorman.
He said the Ambassador expressed his appreciation of the work of Grange and Armada Development Association (GADA) in keeping alive the story of the 1588 Armada.
“He will visit Grange and Streedagh in the very near future to view the wrecks site, the proposed Armada Interpretive and Visitor Centre and will meet with the members of GADA as well as locals from the area,” Mr O’Gorman added.
